Six in interview shortlist for CBK Governor post

Two women and four men are set to be interviewed by the Public Service Commission as the race to get a successor to Dr Patrick Njoroge as the Governor, Central Bank, enters homestretch.

The interviews, which are scheduled on 9th May 2023, will see Dorcas Muthoni Mutonyi, Haron Sirima, Edward Sambili, Nancy Onyango, Adan Abdulla Mohammed and Kamau Thugge contest for the position which Dr Njoroge has steered since 19th June 2015. His term was renewed for the second and final term on 18 June 2019.

A former Treasury Principal Secretary, Kamau Thugge is now President William Ruto’s fiscal affairs and budget policy advisor while Economist Dr Edward Sambili also served as the PS Planning National Development & Vision 2030 and Former Deputy Governors Central Bank of Kenya under the late President Mwai Kibaki.

At the moment, Haron Sirima is Chairman of Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company Ltd and he is also on the board of Kenya Airways Ltd and Director-General Public Debt Management Office at National Treasury (Kenya).
Mr Sirima previously occupied the position of Deputy Director-Management Department at Kenya Ministry of Finance and is an Adjunct Prof at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology.
