On the fast track: KCB powers Safari Rally with Sh195 million

Lender KCB has reaffirmed its dedication to Kenya’s motorsport arena with an investment of Kes195 million into the upcoming 2024 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally Kenya.

Scheduled to take place from March 28th to 31st in Naivasha, Nakuru County, the Safari Rally promises to be an exhilarating showcase of speed, skill, and adrenaline-fueled action.

As the official Financial Partner for the four-day fourth leg of the WRC calendar, KCB’s contribution underscores its pivotal role in advancing the motorsport industry in East Africa.

The bank’s commitment includes a Kes100 million allocation to support the rally’s preparations and logistics, ensuring a seamless and unforgettable experience for participants and spectators alike.

In a move to nurture local talent and promote inclusivity, KCB has earmarked an additional Kes16.6 million for the sponsorship of two promising Kenyan drivers – Karan Patel, the reigning African Rally Champion, and Nikhil Sachania.

This investment not only bolsters the aspirations of these drivers but also cultivates a supportive ecosystem for budding motorsport enthusiasts across the region.

Speaking on the significance of KCB’s involvement in motorsports, Group CEO Paul Russo expressed pride in the bank’s longstanding partnership with the Safari Rally since 2003.

He highlighted  KCB’s pivotal role in propelling Kenya to the forefront of the global motoring arena and fostering the growth of motorsport in the region.

Beyond its financial contributions, KCB remains steadfast in its commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

Driving positive change

Through initiatives aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 13 on Climate Action, the bank aims to plant 300,000 trees this year, in collaboration with partners, to mitigate climate change effects and promote ecological balance.

Moreover, KCB is dedicated to ensuring the safety and inclusivity of the rally, implementing comprehensive regulations and supporting small businesses, youth, women, and underrepresented groups.

This multi-faceted approach underscores KCB’s holistic commitment to driving positive change and fostering a thriving motorsport ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders.
