Solar kit turns premium content signal on in Kenya’s off-grid homes

The partnership bundles Azuri’s TV400 product, a 32” solar-powered TV and household solar energy kit, with a DStv decoder, giving customers a plug-and-play system that accesses the latest in the world of entertainment, local and international news, classic documentaries and a lot of educational content.
The stand-alone system, which comes with 80 watts’ capacity solar panel, a 160Wh battery, the company says customers will power their television sets for over 10 years without the need of servicing the system.

The TV400 product suit will also see off grid customers get two high power tube lights, two spotlights, a rechargeable radio, rechargeable torch and USB phone charging with extra capacity to support smartphones besides the DStv HD decoder.
Azuri’s TV400, which is available for a deposit of KES8,999, will see customers pay and a daily usage fee of KES115 for just over two-and-half years to own the system.
