KeNHA seeks new boss as current Director General term ends
Kenya highways authority is seeking a new boss following the exit of long serving Director-General Engineer Peter Mundinia last week.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has advertised for the positon of a substantive director general following the appointment of Engineer David Muchilwa in acting capacity.
Engineer Mundinia proceeded on terminal leave last week ahead of the expiry of his six-year contract on August 28, 2021, as pressure mounted to replace him.
Activist Charles Opudo had filed a case in court, claiming Eng Mundinia’s term was set to expire while he was still in office contrary to the Kenya Roads Act and KeNHA human resource manual and the Constitution.

“Pursuant to the provisions of the Roads Act, 2007, The Board of Directors invites applications from suitably qualified Kenyans citizens who wish to be considered for the position of Director General Kenya Highways Authority,” Kenha said in a notice.
The process of recruiting a new DG begun immediately according to the Kenya Roads Act 2007, which establishes the authority and provides guidelines for the process.
According to the Act, each authority shall have a DG who shall be appointed by the concerned board in consultation with the minister from among three candidates competitively selected by the board.
Mr Mundinia exists after serving for two terms starting August 28, 2015 when he took over from Mr Linus Tonui before being reappointed on August 28, 2018.
