Regulator gives nod for Abdi Mohamed to steer Absa
Following regulatory approval, the Board of Absa Bank Kenya has appointed Abdi Mohamed to the role of Managing Director and CEO, starting May 1st. Mr Mohamed replaces Jeremy Awori, who was appointed pan-African Ecobank chief executive officer in September 2022.
An insider, Mr Mohamed has over 28 years working in different capacities in Absa Group, and will be charged with sustaining the lender’s current growth momentum to transform into a formidable, customer-obsessed and sustainable business, the Board said.
Interim CEO Yusuf Omari, is expected to resume his role as Chief Finance Officer (CFO) while Moses Muthui, who has been serving as interim CFO also resumes his role as the lender’s Chief Strategy Officer and Financial Director for Corporate and Investment Banking.
