Sh3 million scholarship prize in Jubilee’s Live Free art contest

Jubilee Insurance’s 2023 Live Free Art Competition will see the best ten participating pupils drawn from various parts of Kenya awarded with full high school education scholarship worth Kes3 million. The Live Free Art Competition, now in its third edition, targets pupils across Kenya between Grade 1 and 4 under the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).

The 2023 Live Free art competition theme is ‘Celebrating Jubilant Moments’. Students who wish to participate must submit unique works of art in a variety of media, such as painting, drawing, collage, or mixed media, that demonstrate their comprehension of the issue. Participants may use any locally accessible material, including watercolors, colored pencils, crayons, charcoal, and ink.

Wilbroda Odera, General Manager of Retail Life and Pensions at Jubilee Life Insurance, stated that painting gives kids a way to express their feelings and hone their fine motor abilities.

“We believe that art plays a critical role in the development of young minds, nurturing cognitive abilities such as creativity, problem solving, logical reasoning and self-expression. The art competition will enable young learners across Kenya to demonstrate their artistic prowess and to be recognized for their talents,” said Ms. Odera.

Outstanding works of art

Submissions will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges made up of art educators and creative industry experts on the basis of creativity, originality, technique, and artistic clarity. To guarantee equitable evaluation of all applications, the competition will be split into two categories (Grade 1 and 2 and Grade 3 and 4).

Students who are interested in participating must turn in their entry form and artwork between Monday, July 24 and Friday, September 8, 2023. The company’s website offers a download for the registration form.

The winners will be revealed during a special awards ceremony where their outstanding works of art will be acknowledged. The company’s mentorship program will provide high school scholarships and mentorship to the top ten winning students.

“ The art competition by Jubilee Life Insurance will inspire young artists in different regions across Kenya while empowering them to develop their visual literacy and to showcase their imagination. Our pupils are thrilled to be part of this exciting initiative,” said Green Gardens Schools Principal Early Years/Lower School Tr. George Nginyo

All the artworks should be submitted by hand delivery or couriered to the company’s head office by 8th September 2023. Last year, Jubilee Life insurance received over of 3,200 entries.
