Senior Counsel Ahmednasir lecture cancelled

Former Judicial Service Commission and Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has had his talk on corruption in the Judiciary canceled after he submitted a thesis attacking the Chief Justice Martha Koome.

Mr Abdullahi said he was surprised after receiving a call to cancel his initially planned session in the ongoing Judges’ conference that’s happening at the Sarova Whitesands in Mombasa from 6th-10th June.

The city lawyer had been invited to the conference by Justice Eric Ogolla, the Principal Judge, High Court to facilitate a session based off any topic of his own choosing in the conference.

Popularly known as The Grand Mullah for his political vitriol on Twitter, Mr Abdullahi chose a particularly touchy topic titled; “CJ KOOME, GRAND CORRUPTION AND JUDICIAL IMPUNITY: THE TOXIC TRINITY BLEEDING THE KENYAN JUDICIARY TO DEATH”.

The lawyer alleged that the Judiciary is Kenya’s biggest threat to national security in his thesis and that the current Chief Justice is incompetent and clueless of her role and that she must resign immediately for she is “a limping leader sheep cannot lead the rest of the flock to greener pasture.”

The thesis also stated the introduction of a five year cycle lifestyle audit for the judges, the removal of judges to be made more transparent and also identified that the CJ allegedly established total immunity for corrupt judges regardless of the evidence.

Mrs Koome, Kenya’s first female Chief Justice has come under criticism from sections of the opposition and now lawyers over handling of the judiciary that is being run down by corruption. The Chief Registrar Anne Amadi is facing allegations of fraud in a gold scandal and has had her accounts frozen over the case linked to her son.
