Leadership lesson for Kenyan politicians after video of a British minister resigning goes viral
A British Minister Lord Michael Bates on Wednesday resigned after arriving to the House of Lords late by about 5 minutes.
He was dismayed when, he discovered that the Council had discussed a question addressed to him during his absence.
When he was allowed to talk. He said:
“I feel ashamed, because I was not present to answer the question, therefore I announce my immediate resignation,” and then left the hall.
A governmental post is a service for the citizens and not an honour.
In a country where resignation is frowned upon even when people die under their watch, the resignation can be such a big lesson on leadership.
