Let’s remain cautious, risk of Covid-19 infection looms — Uhuru
Kenyans should not throw caution to the wind as the latest data shows Covid-19 cases are on the rise.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has cautioned that despite relaxation of the disease containment measures, the danger of infections spreading still looms large.
The Head of State spoke while presiding over the 92nd inspection parade of the St John Ambulance Kenya, where he also announced Kes150 million annual government sponsorship for the organization starting with Kes100 million this financial year.
“We must continue to be careful as we go about our daily callings; and more importantly, I urge all Kenyans to get vaccinated or receive your booster shots, so that we may put the pandemic behind us, once-and-for-all.”
The call by the President came as the country’s COVID-19 cases continue to rise with the latest positivity rate at 3.7 percent on Sunday.
The President commended St John Kenya for contributing to favorable health indicators under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) programme, noting that the organization’s various pre-hospital care-related training courses have ensured the country has a growing population of first aiders.
He further acknowledged that St John tirelessly sensitized Kenyans about Covid-19, hosted hand washing campaigns, and even helped the Ministry of Health in the administration of Covid-19 vaccines.
“As a thankful nation, this country appreciates you for your quality service,” the President said.
