Why you can’t download images on WhatsApp

If you’re wondering why you are unable to download images on WhatsApp, it could be because of two reasons; either you’ve ran out of data bundles or, the service is down.

Today, Dozens of users globally including here in Kenya, have reported difficulties during sending or downloading of images, voice notes and documents files.

Rumor has it that the outage is as a result of the theft of cables at its main technology station in Midrand, however, the company is blaming it on a server issue. It is likely that Facebook and Instagram will be affected too seeing that they share server infrastructure with WhatsApp.

The last time an outage like this occurred, experts called it, “the greatest outage in internet history” as it affected millions of users globally. Facebook, WhatsApp’s parent company is however reassuring users that it is working to resolve the issue.
