National Lands Commission to probe Integrity Centre Ownership

National Lands Commission to probe Integrity Centre Ownership. The firm at the center of the eviction of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has been cast under the spotlight as the National Land commission seeks to investigate ownership of Integrity Centre.

NLC says that the government intends to acquire the land and wants anyone claiming ownership of the parcel registered to Tegus limited to state their claim.

“Every person interested in the affected land is required to deliver to the National Land Commission on or before the day of inquiry a written claim to compensation, copy of Identity Card (ID), Personal Identification No. (PIN) and land ownership documents. Commission offices are in Ardhi House, 1st Ngong Avenue, 3rd Floor, Room 305,” Mohamed Swazuri wrote in last week’s Gazette notice.

Tegus limited sparked of controversy after EACC investigator Kipsang Sambai said that the companies together with Revak limited are owned by city lawyer Adan Mohammed, his wife, and daughter.

Revack acquired Integrity Centre from the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation, which liquidates collapsed banks’ assets to refund depositors.

Tegus, in turn, bought the facility from Revack for Sh400 million. The Companies Registrar identified the shareholders of Tegus Limited as companies called Watuwatu Limited and Sunnex Enterprises Limited, with a Rachel Wanjugu Muthui and Anish Doshi as directors and minority shareholders.

Watuwatu and Sunnex own 49 shares each while Ms. Muthui and Mr. Doshi own one share each. Watuwatu Limited is in turn owned by Ahmed Adan and Asma Ahmed Adan.

Both Tegus Limited and Watuwatu Limited were registered on the same date, March 13, 2013, and are situated at the same address, Bruce House on Standard Street in Nairobi.

Reports indicate that the building changed ownership without the knowledge of depositors of the collapsed Trust Bank, whose interests were being held in trust by the Deposit Protection Fund.
