Pop culture icons Boyz II Men to serenade Nairobi

The entertainment scene in Nairobi just got hotter as one of the biggest musical groups of the 1990s has been added to the offering this year.

Boyz II Men will be live in concert at the Stanbic Yetu Festival on Saturday, June 10, 2023, as the End of Road’ singers serenade thousands of fans during their first-ever performance on African soil.

From Nairobi, the Philadelphia-based group will head to Uganda and later South Africa. The iconic boy band will perform in Mzansi after their tour dates – April 2020 and March 2021 – were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Iconic R&B Group Boyz II Men are 4-time Grammy Award winners and have won a total of nine American Music Awards. The group, which continues to create timeless hits that appeal to fans across all generations, has sold over 25 million albums in the US alone.

R&B fans can look forward to an action-packed evening as Boyz II Men entertain with some of their number-one singles including massive hits such as End of the Road, I’ll Make Love to You, It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday, On Bended Knee, and or their three-time Platinum-selling single with Mariah Carey One Sweet Day.

The concert, Stanbic Yetu Festival, is organised through a partnership between Stanbic Bank and Radio Africa Group as part of the lenders initiatives to boost the creative economy in the country.

Stanbic aspires to give Kenyans a unique live music experience that will leave a lasting impression, the pan African lender said.

“This year’s festival promises to be a celebration of music, culture, and diversity. It can be a people-focused proof point, by creating a powerful positive musical experience for our customers and beyond,” said Lilian Onyach, Head, Consumer and High-Networth and Ag. Head, Brand and Marketing, Stanbic Bank.

Across the continent, Standard Bank Group has been running various initiatives supporting the arts industry with a goal to promote the development of both the visual and performing arts. The Group has sponsored music in South Africa, Zambia and Malawi as well.

Stanbic Yetu Festival started in 2020 at the height of the pandemic when the lender in liaison with Radio Africa Group brought together musicians and fans for an innovative virtual show. An estimated 7.4 million people from Kenya joined the show.

Last year, song-writer and Grammy award winner, actor and producer Anthomy Hamilton headlined the concert that brought together 2000 fans.
