Radisson Blu Upper Hill adopts e-vehicles

Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi Upper Hill has integrated 12 electric vehicles into its existing fleet in a deal set to help advance the business’ efforts in cutting carbon emissions.

In an update, the hotel says it has also set up a charging station on its premises and plans are underway to make it available for guest use later this year, further supporting the usage of electric vehicles in Kenya.

The initiative, which is in partnership with guest mobility services provider Humming Bird Transport was unveiled during the World Environment Day on June 5.

“This partnership marks a defining moment in the hospitality industry. By introducing electric vehicles, we are not just reducing carbon emissions; we are re-writing the script on the hospitality industry’s environmental impact. We are also aiming to redefine the tourism experience while championing Kenya’s leadership in green transport in Africa,” said Radisson Blu’s General Manager Russel Storey.

“Together we are pioneering sustainable transportatation solutions that will redefine the tourism experience and set a new precedent for environmental responsibility,” Martin Murungi, Humming Bird Transport Managing Director stated.
