The Kenya Reinsurance Corporation (Kenya Re) has announced a new partnership with local insurers to bolster expertise in emerging risk areas such as cyber security and climate change.

This initiative, facilitated through the newly established Kenya Re Academy, aims to enroll local professionals in various insurance risk domains.

Dr. Hillary Wachinga, Group Managing Director of Kenya Re, said the corporation’s commitment to enhancing industry knowledge and skill sets in response to the evolving nature of the business.

Speaking at an award ceremony attended by 31 insurance and brokers, Dr. Wachinga highlighted the importance of the initiative in ensuring the national reinsurer’s reinsurance obligations are met and profitability safeguarded.

The Corporation has also launched an incentive program to promote prompt premium payments by insurers. This initiative not only contributes to Kenya Re’s profitability but also enables investment in research, development, and innovation.

Additionally, it supports the growth of the local insurance and reinsurance sector, ultimately enhancing the national economy through increased retention of premiums.
