Ndoto Zetu rolls out Sh8.9 million boost to schools, dispensaries
Over 6,000 people in Uasin Gishu, Nakuru and Kericho counties are set to start enjoying better healthcare and education services after Ndoto Zetu, an initiative of Safaricom Foundation equipped four health centres and 14 schools at a total cost of Kes8.9 million.
In Nakuru County, Sumeek dispensary in Rongai sub county received delivery beds, patient beds, a sucker, an oxygen concentrator, and HP metres which are used in testing blood pressure. This will bring maternity services closer to the community and will see the maternity wing better able to handle emergencies.
Seretut Dispensary in Kericho County received a delivery bed, baby bath, urometer, weighing scale and safety boots to increase the capacity of women who can safely deliver in the facility, as opposed to having to visit distant facilities.
In Trans Nzoia County, Kapsitwet Centre also received a bed, baby cot and a room heater for the maternal unit, to improve the newborn unit conditions, which will in turn improve newborn mortality rates in the area.
Enaiposha Girl’s Secondary School in Nakuru County, Kimoson Primary School in Kericho County and Kipsangui Girls’ Secondary in Uasin Gishu among eight other schools each received 10000- litre water tanks to help in water storage and harvesting to reduce water shortage in the institutions during the dry season.
“Safaricom Foundation is dedicated to transforming the lives of Kenyans in all the 47 counties, through improving health and education. We aim to increase access to quality reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent health services in Kenya. As a Foundation, we are also keen in ensuring that students have a conducive learning environment, by having access to amenities such as clean water,” said Safaricom Foundation chairman Joseph Ogutu.
Ndoto Zetu is Safaricom Foundation’s flagship philanthropic initiative, which calls on Kenyans to partner with the Foundation to actualise their community’s dreams and aspirations.
Over the next two months, Safaricom Foundation will commission over 400 Ndoto Zetu projects in health, education, and economic empowerment worth KES 100 million, which target two million beneficiaries.
