M-PESA App customers to enjoy free EABL deliveries, Shell loyalty points

Customers of the M-PESA Super App will receive free deliveries from brewer EABL and reward points whenever they refuel at Shell. The deal follows a partnership between Safaricom, the East African Breweries (EABL) and oil marketer Vivo. The firms have launched The Bar and Shell apps on the M-PESA Super App.

Customers can order beverages using EABL’s The Bar app with free delivery or reserve a bar setup for parties and pay via the M-PESA app.

Customers who fill up at Shell stations will receive a loyalty app from Vivo. It will instantly connect with to their M-PESA accounts. When a customer fills up and pays via M-PESA, they will gain points based on value of purchase. At Shell shops, the points will exchange for a limited number of goods and services.

“The Bar and Shell apps will provide the more than three million customers on the app with the increased convenience of shopping online coupled with free deliveries and more value when fuelling at Shell outlets. These partnerships are part of our goal to enable our customers to do more through the M-PESA Super App,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom.

The two services will be available in the upcoming weeks. They join over 60 other businesses, including counties and parastatals, who are offering services on M-PESA Super App. The various businesses on the App receive hosting, distribution, and marketing assistance from Safaricom.

The M-PESA Super App now has more than three million users, up from 1.2 million in April 2023. The Super App handled 489 million transactions worth Kes1.3 trillion in Safaricom’s FY ending April 2023.
