Kapchorua Tea profit up 46 percent to Sh314 million

Kapchorua Tea, which is better known as Williamson Tea, has posted 46 percent increase in profit Kes314 million for the year ended March to from Kes214 million prior

The firm attributes profit growth to better prices in international markets following the delivery of high quality teas. Following the strong performance, the Board of directors has declared the payment of dividends at Kes25 per share, payable on 4th September.

The company said inflationary pressures in the market have seen players hoard very large stocks of Kenyan tea. Currently, Kapchorua Tea supports over 2000 smallholder farmers who account for over 70 percent of the green leaf that they manufacture.
