10 students secure scholarships in Jubilee Live Free Art Competition

Ten learners have received fully funded high school education scholarships today, worth Kes3 million, courtesy of the Jubilee Live Free Art Competition by Jubilee Life Insurance.

The ten awardees were part of the 10,000 participants in the annual art contest, aiming to promote creativity and self-expression among young children, allowing them to express their understanding of freedom through artwork.

The competition, in its third phase, was open to all primary school children under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in Kenya, ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 4, from both public and private primary schools.

Diversity and unique perspectives

Over 10,000 artworks from more than 300 schools in 19 counties were submitted, showcasing the diversity and unique perspectives of the young participants. Entries underwent assessment by a panel of experienced and talented art judges and creative professionals responsible for identifying award-winning pieces.

Judging criteria included creativity, originality, and adherence to this year’s theme, “Celebrating Jubilant Moments”. Participating pupils were required to submit original artworks illustrating their understanding of the theme, using various mediums such as painting, drawing, collage, or mixed media.

In addition to the fully funded high school scholarships, the ten pupils will receive personalized mentorship programs, courtesy of Jubilee Life Insurance. Furthermore, the winners, winning schools, and top winners per county received gift hampers from Jubilee Life Insurance.

During the award ceremony, Jubilee Life Insurance Chairman Zul Abdul expressed that the growing number of participants in the annual Jubilee Live Free Art Competition reflects the increasing interest and unique relevance of the arts and culture space.
