Budget airline Jambojet endorses Karanja Ndegwa as CEO
The board of directors of Jambojet has confirmed Karanja Ndegwa as the airline’s chief executive officer and managing director effective immediately.
Mr Ndegwa, replaced Allan Kilavuka who headed to steer the national carrier Kenya Airways, first as its acting CEO in 2019 after the untimed exit of former boss Sebastian Mikosz.
A graduate of economics and statistics from the University of Nairobi, Mr Ndegwa is a seasoned leader in the airline industry where he holds more than 20 years of experience.
Since taking over as acting managing director, Mr Ndegwa has successfully steered the business, ensuring stability, continuity and growth amid the Covid-19 pandemic which has significantly affected the aviation industry, noted Vincent Rague, Chairman, Jambojet Board of Directors.
Before joining Jambojet in 2014, Mr Ndegwa worked at national carrier Kenya Airways in different capacities, rising to the position of manager revenue accounting.

He has also served as the head of finance at Jambojet, before being appointed the chief financial officer of the airline in 2016.
The airline said Mr Ndegwa has been instrumental to Jambojet growth, setting up the finance organization during Jambojet’s inception and has been involved in strategy development and implementation.
Since its establishment, low-cost carrier Jambojet has enabled affordable air travel in the region with first time flyers accounting for about 30 per cent of its customer base.
In the five years of operation, the airline business growth has been marked by fleet expansion as well as regional growth with the latest being the introduction of flights to Goma city in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo starting September 10, this year.
