Jambojet becomes Kenya’s first airline to grace international aerospace event
Kenya airways owned – low-cost subsidiary Jambojet; has become the first Kenyan airline to participate in the Dubai Airshow, an international affair that brings together aircraft manufactures to showcase their technical and operational competencies and capabilities to potential customers and aviation leaders.
Jambojet exhibited its newest purchase – the Dash 8-400 Jet manufactured by Canadian Aircraft maker – De Havilland. The new eighty-two seater jet nicknamed ‘Kongoti’ was acquired in October in line with the airline’s regional expansion plans.
Just last month, Jambojet announced new routes to Mogadishu and Kigali – Rwanda, with the maiden flight to Kigali expected to kick off on Monday, 25th November at 2.35 pm.
Mr. Allan Kilavuka, the airline’s boss, Said that he was delighted that De Havilland chose to exhibit one of Jambojet’s aircraft, terming it as a great honor and a matter of national Heritage that essentially amplifies Jambojet’s credentials at a world-class level.
Since it commenced operations in 2014, the low-cost airline has flown over 3 million passengers with most of them being first-time flyers.
Dubai Airshow 2019 runs until the 21st of this month and is one of the world’s largest aerospace industry gatherings with exhibitions and aircraft from over 1,300 suppliers including defense contractors.
On Wednesday, American Aircraft maker Boeing Co was smiling all the way to the bank after Dubai based Emirates Air placed an order for 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners in a deal valued at nearly 9 billion dollars.
