Kenya Breweries Ltd, the owners of Tusker beer, and Safaricom, have signed a Kes30 million deal to provide connectivity during the upcoming OktobaFest, supporting Gen Z through Safaricom Hook while empowering digital lifestyles through M-PESA.
Safaricom Hook is one of the latest offerings from the tech company aimed at nurturing and supporting the aspirations of Gen Z while transforming their lives. During the festival, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the platform’s three key hooks: technology, career, and culture.
“Today’s partnership symbolises the coming together of two iconic Kenyan brands to celebrate our Kenyan identity and leverage our strengths in creating Kenya’s most significant cultural experience,” noted Peter Ndegwa, CEO of Safaricom PLC.
Safaricom will demonstrate the strength of its 4G and 5G network by providing Cell on Wheels (COWs) network towers to power the beer festival. Additionally, cabled fibre will service essential areas, including registration, live-stream production, and gaming zones.
The tech giant will also introduce a specially curated data bundle plan, the ‘Oktobafest Bundle,’ allowing consumers to stay connected and enjoy the live-streamed experience.
“By combining our strengths, we are crafting an unprecedented cultural experience, complemented by the finest beer that East Africa has to offer,” said Anne Joy Michira, Marketing and Innovations Director at East Africa Breweries Limited.
Customers are encouraged to sign up through the mySafaricom app or by dialing *555# and stand a chance to win free tickets to OktobaFest, where they can explore the transformative potential of S-Hook.
On the ground, Safaricom will offer fast and secure payments through M-PESA, along with an enticing 10 percent cashback offer on all on-site purchases. Festival-goers will also enjoy a 30 percent discount on their rides when booking and paying with M-PESA on the Uber app, using the OktobaFest 2023 Promo Code, FEST2023.
The telco will also establish convenient charging stations at various locations within the festival. Further, Safaricom will set up a Retail Shop on the premises, offering various devices and accessories for sale and providing customer care to festival attendees.
