US offers Sh1bn to bolster Kenya’s National Defence College

The United States will finance the Ministry of Defence to set up new facilities at the National Defence College in Karen, Nairobi. Already, the US has allocated Kes1.1 billion (US$9 million) towards the project.

“I am delighted to announce that the Ministry of Defence in collaboration with the US government is building a new tuition block for the college in response to the growing demand for National Defence College courses. I want to thank the US government for this facility,” said President William Ruto on Thursday.

The initial phase of the proposed infrastructure project will include the establishment of an administration block featuring offices and a seminar room. It will also encompass the construction of a library block and a state-of-the-art auditorium with a capacity of 250 people.
