Kenya Covid positivity rate down to 0.8 per cent
Kenya reported 21 new Covid-19 infections a test was conducted on a sample size of 2,709 representing a 0.8 per cent positivity rate in the last 24 hours.
The latest data from the Ministry of Health shows no COVID-19 death was recorded over the weekend keeping the total fatalities at 5,316.
“Total confirmed positive cases are now 254,297 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,770,062. There is no death reported today,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement on Sunday.
The cases are spread across nine counties namely Nairobi seven, Uasin Gishu three, Kiambu three, Migori and West Pokot two cases each, Kitui, Mombasa, Nakuru and Bungoma recorded a case each.
At the same time, the total recoveries stood at 247,645 after 12 patients recovered from the virus.
A total of 391 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,031 are under the home-based isolation and care program.

“26 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 12 of whom are on ventilatory support and 14 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation. Another 112 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 110 of them in the general wards while two others are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).”
In the ongoing vaccination, as of Saturday, a total of 5.9 million vaccines had been administered across the country with 3.8 million being partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 2.1 million.
“The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 50.7 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 7.7 per cent,” said Mr Kagwe.
Nairobi County is still on the lead with 22.3 per cent of the population fully vaccinated followed by Nyeri County at 19.2 per cent, Kiambu 12.7 per cent, Taita Taveta 10.5 per cent, Nyandarua 10.3 per cent and Laikipia 10.0 per cent.
The government plans to inoculate 26 million adults by March next year.
