The legitimate front cover has a different headline

This post on X (formerly Twitter) bearing an image purportedly of the front cover of Daily Nation’s 25th July 2024 edition is ALTERED.

The post reads: “Daily Nation” with a purported headline reading: “Raila’s Judas moment Veteran backbencher turned political prostitute shows his hand in Ruto’s tyranny”

The cover was shared a day after President William Ruto nominated his second batch of Cabinet Secretaries, which included four members of the Orange Democratic Movement  (ODM), an opposition party led by Raila Odinga.

Which invites the question, did Daily Nation publish the lead story headline under focus?
Maudhui House checked Daily Nation Africa’s official X account (@NationAfrica) and found that the legitimate front cover has a different headline. The legitimate headline reads, “Enter Raila, the coalition ‘king’” A link to the newspaper’s e-edition was also provided.

To counter the spread of the altered splash page, Nation Africa debunked the claims, stating “Beware of fake news! If it’s not on our official social media pages, it’s fake”
