Magata Bruce tops 2021 KCPE, results show gender equality
Magata Bruce Mackenzie from Giglgil Hills Academy has emerged the best KCPE candidate for 2021 after scoring 428 marks, Education CS, Prof George Magoha, has announced.
Momanyi Ashley Kerubo of Makini School came second with 427 marks. On the third position, are Kuoma Charity, Mbugua Sharon Momanyi, Muteti Shantel Ndinda, Stanley Otieno Omondi, Wekesa Naomi, Kimani Ethan Karuga all scoring 426 marks.
Njeri Joel Musyoka, Kirinya Muriuki Victor, Kaderia Emmanuel Munene, Emmanuel Kiplagat Ngetich, Diana Rose Natola and George Morris Otieno closed the top ten candidates with 425 points.
Over 1.2 million candidates sat for the 2021 KCPE in 28,248 centres countrywide.
Speaking at Mtihani House, Nairobi, the CS noted that the examination achieved gender equality as boys recorded 50.28 percent while girls recorded 49.72 percent.
“Six papers recorded an improvement in the examinations as compared to the 2020 exams. These include English and composition, Science, Kiswahili and Insha, Social Studies, Kenya sign language composition.”

The CS also noted that three papers, Mathematics, English Language, and religious studies recorded a drop as compared to the 2020 exams.
Prof Magoha further lauded two special needs pupils, who managed to score over 400 KCPE marks, with Bethany Migosi of Thorngrove Academy, attaining 417 marks.
He reaffirmed that his ministry had produced a flawless examination campaign without any leakage prior to earlier speculations.
He, however, noted that the cases of malpractice that had been caught would be dealt with in the upcoming weeks.
“This year’s KCPE is the last examination being released under the Jubilee administration, a regime that has seen a six-year run of the cleanest and flawless national examination campaign.”
Sharing CS Magoha’s sentiments, the Teachers Service Commission CEO Nancy Macharia stated that they would take action against the unscrupulous tutors.
“Teachers involved in KCPE examinations conducted themselves with utmost professionalism. We shall take firm action against teachers involved in exam irregularities,” she reiterated.
Over 1.2 million candidates whose results have been released today will all be admitted to secondary schools under the government’s 100 percent transition policy.
