Dealers running Shell pump stations across the country can now access tailored financing from Absa Bank Kenya to accelerate the growth of their businesses.

This follows an agreement between the lender and and Vivo Energy Kenya where the former will empower Shell service station dealers to access to tailored financing solutions that support business growth, expansion, and long-term sustainability. Vivo Energy Kenya distributes and markets Shell products and services in the country.

The partnership will provide financing to eligible Vivo Energy Kenya dealers, enabling them to finance rent payments in advance to landowners for agreed periods of time and in construction of additional sites.

The solution is designed to help dealers secure strategic business locations while preserving working capital for day-to-day operations, investment, and future growth opportunities.

With Vivo Energy operating one of Kenya's largest fuel retail networks of approximately 350 service stations across the country, the partnership is expected to strengthen the dealer ecosystem, support infrastructure development, and contribute to growth within Kenya's energy and mobility sector.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Absa Bank Kenya Business Banking Director, Renato D’souza said:

"At Absa, we are committed to developing innovative financing solutions that address real business needs and unlock growth opportunities for our customers. This partnership with Vivo Energy Kenya and its Shell brand demonstrates our commitment to being a trusted growth partner for businesses by enabling dealers to secure long-term operating locations, strengthen their businesses, and invest confidently in the future."

The financing facility addresses a common challenge faced by fuel station operators, where significant capital is often required upfront to secure long-term lease arrangements. By providing structured financing, dealers will be able to establish greater certainty for their businesses while maintaining the liquidity needed to support operations and expansion plans.

On his part, the Managing Director, Vivo Energy Kenya Mr. Peter Murungi said: “Vivo Energy Kenya has started a financial partnership journey with Absa Bank Kenya. This comes as the company pursues its growth agenda in the country and has successfully pushed the Shell brand and products to become a market leader.”

He added, “As the company continues its growth agenda, it is bringing Absa Bank Kenya on board as a financial partner providing easier access to financing for investment and business development to Vivo Energy Kenya’s dealers and investors.”

The partnership reflects both Absa’s and Vivo Energy Kenya’s shared commitment to supporting entrepreneurship, investment, and sustainable business growth. By enabling dealers to access long-term lease financing, the initiative is expected to create positive economic impact for businesses, landowners, employees, and communities across the country. Through collaborations such as this, Absa continues to deliver innovative financial solutions that support customers, drive enterprise growth, and contribute to Kenya's economic development.
