Bluetti lights up rural Baringo with 1,000 solar systems
Hundreds of rural homesteads in Baringo County have benefitted from green energy after Bluetti, a global sustainable electricity firm Bluetti distributed 1,000 solar power systems in the area via Kenya Red Cross Society’s ‘Lighting an African Family’ (LAAF) program.
The beneficiaries are spread across Baringo North and South; Tiaty East and West areas of the arid and semi-arid county.
Head of Bluetti LAAF program Archie Yang said that the contribution aims to support displaced families in the country where ongoing conflicts and natural disasters have severely impacted local communities. The initiative is part of empowering off-grid communities to improve education, business, and quality of life with clean, renewable power.
“Through LAAF, we’re not just providing light—we’re empowering off-grid communities to improve education, business, and quality of life with clean, renewable energy. Everyone deserves access to electricity,” said Archie Yang.
The Red Cross noted that the target zones face significant challenges in accessing reliable power due to conflicts, flooding, and geographic isolation. “The solar lamps will provide essential lighting and enable families to charge their phones, improving communication and access to vital information, including early warning messages.”
This donation is part of Bluetti's LAAF programme, which was launched in 2021 to light up 1 million off-grid African families using clean solar energy. According to the firm, it has illuminated over 15,000 households across 11 countries, including Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Malawi.
