Sharon Obara to represent Kenya at Miss World finals

Miss World Kenya beauty pageant is back with a bang after a one year break due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

The pageant held at Trademark Hotel, Nairobi, on Sunday in an evening where Sharon Obara was crowned Miss World Kenya 2021.

Miss World Kenya is a national pageant where the winner goes on to represent Kenya at Miss World finals.

This year, the 70th edition of Miss World pageant will be held on December 16, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where 141 contestants will compete for the top prize.

Sharon, who walked home with Kes250,000 prize money, was full of joy when her name was called out by Mr and Miss World Kenya franchise Director Terry Mungai.

Ms Obara who is beautiful, smart and captivating beat 15 other contestants taking over the crown from Maria Wavinya, who was has held Miss World Kenya since 2019.

Taking second and third place was Chantou Kwamboka and Mwihaki Njogu respectively.

Through her social media channels, Sharon Obara says the journey to the top hasn’t been an easy one but she is grateful for the chance to represent Kenya on the global stage.

Since its launch in 1951, the Miss World organisation has raised millions of dollars for children's charities that have supported the disabled and underprivileged children across the globe.

Speaking during the event, ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs CS Joe Mucheru promised to support the pageant even further, saying the talent and beauty the country has to offer cannot be undermined.

Terry Mungai, Robert Burale and gospel singer Size 8 were the judges as Angela Muiruri and Oga Obinna were the emcees for the night.
