Over 2,700 benefit from M-PESA Foundation free medical camp

Over 2,700 residents of Nairobi County benefited from a free medical camp organized by the M-Pesa Foundation in collaboration with Zuri Health and Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital at Kwa Ng’ethe Primary School in Githurai, where they were provided a variety of services.

These included eye care consultations, breast and cervical cancer screenings, fistula screenings, general doctor consultations, diabetes screenings, hypertension monitoring, and health consultations for the elderly and children.

“We are alive to the ongoing situation where some Kenyans need support. That is why we are currently standing with people at this time of need through several interventions, including this camp,” said Safaricom, CEO, Peter Ndegwa.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to provide immediate assistance to Kenyans nationwide.

“Safaricom, through our Foundations, is committed to transforming lives. Healthcare is one of the major needs of the community which has ensured we invest in medical camps to support communities in all 47 counties,” said Ndegwa.

In addition to the medical camps, M-Pesa and Safaricom Foundations have undertaken other measures such as providing aftercare for patients and supporting hospital infrastructure development. Since April this year, the M-Pesa Foundation has held four camps in Siaya, Mathare, Machakos, and Bungoma, impacting over 14,000 people.

The M-Pesa Foundation has also announced plans for another camp in Ongata Rongai on July 12, 2024.
