Tech giant Safaricom, through its youth-focused platform Safaricom Hook Circle, has today hosted a high-impact Automobile Engineering Masterclass at Nyeri National Polytechnic, drawing over 3,000 youth on-site and reaching more than 500,000 virtually through its digital platforms.

The event served as both a technical deep dive and a mentorship forum, designed to equip young Kenyans with future-ready skills, practical exposure, and real-world career insights.

“The Safaricom Hook Circle is about turning ambition into action,” said Fawzia Ali Kimanthi, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Safaricom.

She added: “We are bringing opportunities closer to the youth—whether in technology, financial services, the creative economy, or career development—because we believe every young person in Kenya deserves access to the skills and support that will help them thrive in a rapidly changing world.”

The masterclass was delivered in collaboration with Safaricom’s Fleet team, Advanced Mobility, and TotalEnergies, combining hands-on technical demonstrations with guided mentorship in key areas like advanced vehicle mobility, lubricant technologies, and automotive innovation.

Participants also engaged in sessions on financial literacy, data privacy, and mental wellness, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience.

As part of its long-term commitment, the programme will certify 400 students in the Automotive Engineering class—empowering them with market-relevant credentials and practical skills for immediate employment or further training.

Safaricom Hook Circle is a nationwide youth empowerment initiative curated to connect young people with growth opportunities across technology, career development, and culture.

Since its launch, the platform has impacted over one million youth across Kenya, offering mentorship bootcamps, skills training, and digital resources.
