A total of six tourists have been confirmed dead following a road accident in Gichaka area, along the Dundori-Oljororok Road, in Nyandarua County on Monday afternoon.

According to authorities in the area, the accident, which involved bus ferrying the tourists from Nakuru County to Nyahururu Thomson Falls in Laikipia County also left 27 other people injured.

"I am deeply saddened by the tragic accident involving tourists, which occurred last evening along Dundori-Oljororok Road. My heartfelt condolences to the affected families during this difficult time. We wish the injured quick and full recovery as I urge our drivers to be extra careful, especially along unfamiliar roads," Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano stated on X.

According to media reports, onlookers said the the bus was traveling along the road under the rain when the driver lost control, swerving the road. The but hit a tree before rolling a couple of, killing six of the occupants.
