Multichoice grows local content offering as new channel is set in motion

Entertainment firm Multichoice Kenya has unveiled Maisha Magic Movies channel, a new offering that will be available across East Africa starting Monday next week.

The company is promising viewers a wide range of local entertainment content in various genres such as action, comedy and romance.

The Kenya Film Commission CEO Timothy Owase lauded Multichoice Group for supporting growth and development of the local film industry in the region.

The new channel joins Maisha Magic East, Maisha Magic Plus and Showmax in showcasing content from East Africa.

Director for East and Southern Africa Channels at Multichoice Group Timothy Okwaro said the company is keen on developing local content across the continent.

“We partner with both local talent and the world’s best production studios to ensure our customers have an unrivaled selection of the best general entertainment content. Through Maisha Magic East and Maisha Magic Plus channel, Multichoice has made extensive investments in the development of original programming sharing the best of African content across the continent,” said Mr Okwaro.

The new channel targets viewers from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania but it will also be available in all key markets across Africa.

Head of Maisha Magic Movies Barbara Kambogi said the firm will keep nurturing teams to produce world-class content that is in sync with the culture in a dynamic market.

The new channel will be available to DStv compact plus and DStv premium subscribers.
