Mobile money agents honoured as M-PESA marks 18 years

On Thursday, Safaricom hosted M-PESA Agents from the Greater Western Region for an Award Ceremony at Mambo Leo Stadium in Kisumu as the telco's M-PESA Sokoni caravan tours the lakeside area.
Hundreds of M-PESA agents across the country are in for recognition by Safaricom PLC as the telco giant celebrates 18 years of operating the mobile money platform and driving financial inclusion.
On Thursday, Safaricom hosted M-PESA Agents from the Greater Western Region for an Award Ceremony at Mambo Leo Stadium in Kisumu as the telco's M-PESA Sokoni caravan tours the lakeside area.
In a statement, Safaricom said the ceremony brought together over 150 agents operating in Kisumu, Bungoma, Vihiga, Busia, Kakamega, Migori, HomaBay, Siaya, Nyamira and Kisii counties to celebrate their contributions to the M-PESA ecosystem.
Through this initiative, Safaricom PLC says it is seeking to further deepen value-based partnerships with agents while accelerating the development of efficient network.
Last week, the company hosted M-PESA Agents from the Mountain region for an award ceremony at Three Steers Hotel in Meru.
The event brought together over 100 agents from across the Mount Kenya region to celebrate their outstanding contributions to the M-PESA last-mile network.
Currently, Safaricom is undertaking M-PESA Sokoni ‘Maisha Fiti, Biz Shwari’ tour across Kenya, a two-month campaign to engage with individuals and communities as part of marking 18 years of M-PESA’s impact.
In the tour, the company is rewarding and celebrating its customers through engaging activities, great rewards, and community-focused initiatives.
Through M-PESA Sokoni tour, Safaricom customers are also getting an opportunity to learn about various products and services, including Ziidi MMF, Taasi Till and Taasi Pochi, Fuliza ya Biashara, Pochi la Biashara, Lipa na M-PESA, Safaricom Hook, Safaricom Emerald, and Masoko.
