Jumia Food spices offerings with free deliveries on Mondays
Jumia Food customers will enjoy free delivery services every Monday as the online shopping company moves to shore up its presence in the Kenyan market.
Apart from helping reduce person-to-person interaction as part of the measures to check the spread of Covid-19, the new development is aimed at encouraging even more consumers to support restaurants.
Head of Commercial Jumia Food Kenya, Valentine Kainyu, said consumers will get free delivery from a range of restaurants and supermarkets.
“Jumia Food is excited to offer free delivery every Monday on the Jumia Food App. We hope that this will not only brighten our consumer’s Mondays but also cheer them up, as we also support our restaurants to stay in business," she said.
Household items such as sugar, maize flour, and cooking oil were the most ordered products on Jumia, as Kenya's online shopping trends shift to everyday products.
Statistics by the Jumia Africa e-commerce Index 2021 showed that fast-moving consumer goods and beauty products accounted for 57 percent of goods sold on the platform last year by value, an increase from 44 percent in 2019.
