Jubilee Insurance and Strathmore University unite for professional excellence

Insurer Jubilee has entered into an agreement with Strathmore University in a bid to advance professional skills, drive innovative solutions, and embrace sustainability.

This alliance will provide Jubilee Insurance customers, partners, staff, and companies affiliated with the Aga Khan Development Network exclusive opportunities for both self and professional development.

As part of this collaboration, the constituents will receive discounted rates on a variety of certification courses and higher education programs at Strathmore University.

This initiative is designed to support continuous professional development and skill enhancement across different sectors. Additionally, the partnership will facilitate knowledge exchange forums that focus on self-development and industry-specific themes.

Continuous learning

Amid the wave of technological disruptions reshaping industries, professionals must commit to continuous learning to stay competitive.

The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs 2024 Report highlights that cognitive skills, especially complex problem-solving, are gaining prominence, while self-efficacy skills are becoming increasingly important.

Socio-emotional competencies like curiosity, resilience, flexibility, and a drive for lifelong learning are also on the rise, underscoring the need for adaptive, reflective workers. This partnership will enable individuals to upskill in key areas, ensuring they stay relevant and responsive to the ever-changing demands of the modern workplace.

While speaking during the event, Jubilee Insurance Head of Human Resources Ann Karanu noted that this partnership will offer employees and stakeholders an unparalleled opportunity for growth and self-improvement.

“As HR professionals, we continually witness the evolving demands placed on employees across industries. In a rapidly changing world, upskilling is not just a choice, but a necessity. This partnership embodies our commitment to equipping our people with the skills they need to thrive, while also recognizing that learning is a lifelong journey—one that empowers individuals to remain relevant, adaptable, and resilient in the face of change.”

In addition to the educational opportunities, Jubilee Insurance and Strathmore University will embark on joint research projects aimed at addressing industry challenges and driving technological advancements. These collaborative research initiatives will harness the expertise and resources of both institutions to generate actionable insights that can propel progress within the insurance sector.

Moreover, this partnership will reinforce the companies shared commitment to making a positive societal impact by focusing on sustainable practices and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects.

On his part, Strathmore University Business School Senior Faculty (Academic and Executive Programmes) Prof. Joseph Onyango highlighted that this partnership is centred on the university’s mandate to drive knowledge access.

Self-development and education

"As a university deeply committed to expanding access to knowledge, partnerships like this are incredibly exciting for us. This collaboration enables us to advance two critical goals—empowering individuals through self-development and education, while also fostering impactful insights through research. By driving innovation, we contribute to the growth and transformation of the insurance industry, aligning with our vision of becoming a leading outcome-driven, entrepreneurial research university."

This partnership will run for three years, with discounts tailored on a case-by-case basis to ensure that each participant can access opportunities aligned with their unique professional development needs.

Jubilee Insurance Group CEO Dr. Julius Kipng’etich emphasized that by combining expertise and resources, organizations can tackle challenges more effectively, accelerating innovation and driving progress within the society.
