Former Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe could be handed a soft landing at Equity Bank after he was named Chief Commercial Officer.

The position which is mainly focused on brand strategy offers Mr. Igathe who left Vivo, holders of the Shell franchise to join politics, an opportunity to bounce back in the corporate world.

He awaits a ‘fit and proper’ test from the Central bank of Kenya although all indications show he will be unveiled on Thursday during a financial statements briefing.

Mr. Igathe was spotted at the director's table during the annual general meeting in the clearest indication that he was destined to join the banker.

Mr. Igathe resigned from the political circus that has marked City Hall politics since Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko took charge.

Seen as confidante from the House on the Hill and a threat to Sonko’s governorship, Mr. Igathe resigned after five months stating he was regrettably unable ‘to earn the trust of the governor to enable me to drive the administration and management of the county’.
