Former Ramogi FM radio presenter Terry Atieno, aka proud chocolate, plans to vie for an elective seat in Germany, a country where she has lived for 17 years.

Through her Instagram page, she says she has started her journey into the European country's parliament and has interest in running for a seat in her Town Assembly/County Assembly in Buxtehude State District in Hamburg later in September.

Terry also runs an online podcast in the European country.

“Wish me only well my people. I'm going to face it all. Hate and support but I’m ready for it all,” said Terry.

“I am trying it out whether I fail or pass. I'll still be in the books as one of the black immigrants who tried a hand in leadership out here in the western world,” she added.

Terry went to Germany in December 2005 as an au pair and among the reasons she is running for the post is to fight for other integrated immigrants in Germany.

She plans to champion for inclusivity and equality in treatment for immigrants.

Proud chocolate was born in Siaya County as the last born in a family of three siblings.

She completed high school and joined university where she developed a passion for broadcast media.

Later on she interned at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) undertaking television and radio production roles.

She says her journey to Germany developed after she accidentally opened one of her colleague’s drawers during her internship at KBC and found a Deutsche Welle (DW) business card.
