China's automaker Jetour stirs Kenya with new SUV models
Jetour's China made models adds to an increasing stable of auto brands from Chinese company that continue to hit Kenyan roads even as trade and economic ties between Beijing and Nairobi intensify.
Chinese auto company Jetour has unveiled new sport utility vehicles (SUVs) in the Kenyan market, signaling the entry of more players in the growing transport sector.
The company has unveiled its T1, T2, Dashing, and X70 SUV models, which will be sold by its local affiliate Global Motors Center Limited.
"The introduction of the new models to Kenyan consumers signifies confidence of foreign investors in the local motor vehicle industry," said Erastus Gatebe, Industrialization secretary at the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.

Established in 2108, Jetour says it specialises in the assembly of SUVs that blend emerging technology, performance and style. Jetour's SUVs T2, T1, X70 Plus, and Dashing will be assembled in Kenya and are projected to retail from KES4.9 million to KES7.8 million.
Jetour International assistant president Andy Yuan noted that their SUV models will see buyers enjoy a balance of advanced engineering, intelligent technology, and affordability.
He announded that the company is mulling plans to establish an assembly plant locally starting 2026 to aid in the creation of jobs, skills transfer while boosting the country's manufacturing industry.
