TikTok deletes 580,000 videos in Kenya for breach of key guidelines

To protect TikTok's integrity, the platform has removed more than 118 million fake accounts. In addition, we removed more than 22 million accounts that were suspected to be under the age of 13.

TikTok removed over 580,000 videos in Kenya between June and September 2025 for breaching the set rules on appropriate content.

The video sharing platform said that 99.7 percent of the offending videos were removed before anyone reported them while 94.6 percent were removed within 24 hours of posting. 

Additionally, the third quarter of 2025 saw around 90,000 Live sessions interrupted for not following platform content guidelines representing 1 percent of LIVE streams in this time.

Globally, TikTok removed a total of 204,534,932 videos during the period under focus,  representing about 0.7 percent of all content uploaded to the platform. Of this content, 99.3 percent was proactively removed before being reported, while 94.8 percent was removed within 24 hours. 

The company said its action on offending content during the quarter was one of the highest rates ever recorded by TikTok for rapid content removal. 

TikTok attributed its drastic action on continued investment in AI moderation technologies, which saw a record 91 percent of this violative content is now removed via automated technologies, ensuring consistency and speed.
