The 6th edition of the WRC Safari Rally 2026 is set for March 12th to 16th.

Kenya’s private sector have been handed over the mandate to steer the preparation and hosting of the 2026 Safari Rally edition mid next month, marking a departure from the past when the government organized the global showpiece.

In an update on Tuesday, Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya said the government has entered into a new strategic agreement with players in the private sector to organize the 6th edition of the WRC Safari Rally 2026 set for March 12th to 16th.

“This breakthrough marks a monumental realization of the strategic vision of President William Ruto towards the full commercialization of sports and sporting assets, as well as enhanced private-sector participation in the growth and development of Kenya’s sports ecosystem," Mvurya explained.

Mvuya noted that officers serving in the WRC Safari Rally Project Secretariat will be reassigned back into the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports to serve until the end of their contractual terms.

According to Mvurya, the private sector-government partnership will significantly ease the State’s annual financial commitment usually channeled to the WRC event.

“I wish to reassure Kenyans, stakeholders, partners, and motorsport fans that preparations for the WRC Safari Rally 2026 have been finalized, and our country is fully ready to host yet another thrilling global motorsport spectacle,” affirmed Mvurya, adding: “The Government has already settled the promoter’s fee for the event, ensuring a smooth transition and uninterrupted preparations.”
