Kenya Covid-19 positivity rate at 8.2 per cent

A total of 258 people tested positive for the Covid-19 from a sample size of 3,137 tested in the last 24 hours, data from the ministry of health shows. The positivity rate is now at 8.2 per cent. Total confirmed positive cases are now 240,430 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,414,857.

In terms of county distribution, Nairobi led with the number of infections at 113, followed by Nakuru with 17 cases, Murang’a 15, Kiambu 13, Kitui 11, Kajiado and Wajir 1o cases each.

Meru recorded nine cases, Uasin Gishu seven, Tana River five, Marsabit four, Machakos and Mandera three cases each. Bomet and Laikipia recorded two cases each while Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kakamega, Kisii, Nandi, Nyamira, Nyeri and Tharaka Nithi recorded a case each.

From the statement, 923 patients have recovered from the virus, 861 from thee home-based isolation and care program while 62 are from various health facilities across the country.

The total recoveries now stand at 229,006 of whom 185,902 are from the home-based isolation and care program while 43,104 are from various health facilities.

Unfortunately, nine patients have succumbed to the virus, all of them being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in the months of September. The cumulative fatalities are now at 4,795.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,825 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities across the country, while 4,546 are under the home based isolation and care program, 151 patients in the ICU, 87 of whom are on ventilator support and 53 on supplementary oxygen. 11 others are under observation.

Another 752 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 691 of them in general wards and 61 in high dependency units.
