Access Bank Kenya and newly acquired NBK roll out shared banking services

“By opening our networks to each other’s customers, we are ensuring that banking is simpler, faster, and more accessible," said Access Bank Kenya County Managing Director, Ralph Opara.
Customers from either Access Bank Kenya and the National Bank of Kenya can now access certain in-branch banking services seamlessly across both institutions as the two lenders enhance integration of their systems following the former's acquisition of NBK earlier this year.
In a market update on Tuesday, the lenders noted that this collaboration is part of the ongoing integration of the institutions, and will see tellers across the combined branch network process core transactions, including viewing account details, making cash deposits and withdrawals, and transferring funds.
With this milestone, customers of both institutions now have access to a combined footprint of over 100 branches in Kenya, offering convenience, reach, and enhanced service delivery.
At the same time, the lenders said existing accounts, cards, cheque books, and digital platforms from either brand remain valid, and customer deposits remain secure.
“By opening our networks to each other’s customers, we are ensuring that banking is simpler, faster, and more accessible. This move also reflects our ambition to continue to deliver greater choice, improved digital services, and stronger financial solutions to our customers," noted Access Bank Kenya County Managing Director, Ralph Opara.
SMEs Customers
The new outfit promises to offer retail and SMES customers a wider access and more reliable digital channels, even as the corporate and multinational clients receive support for cross-border trade finance and treasury management through Access Bank’s hubs in the UK, Dubai, China, Malta, France, India, Lebanon, and Hong Kong.
Public sector clients will continue to rely on NBK’s expertise, now reinforced by digitized collections, disbursements, and greater capacity to advance Kenya’s national inclusion agenda.
“Our customers remain at the heart of everything we do. This synergy with Access Bank Kenya is a clear demonstration of how collaboration within the banking industry can deliver real value to customers. Together, we are building an institution that will deliver more value to customers, empower communities, and play a catalytic role in Kenya’s economic growth agenda," explained George Odhiambo, Managing Director of NBK.
