Dr. Joshua Oigara has been appointed Chief Executive of Stanbic Holdings Plc effective 1 Mar 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

He will be taking over from Patrick Mweheire, who will retire on 28 Feb 2026. Mweheire will, however, continue in a senior role within Standard Bank Group.

"“The board is pleased to announce the appointment of Joshua Oigara as chief executive and director of Stanbic Holdings Plc, effective March 1, 2026. This appointment is subject to requisite regulatory approvals,” the company said on Thursday, adding "He will assume the role of chief executive of Stanbic Holdings Plc in addition to his regional mandate."

In his new role, the former KCB Group CEO will be tasked with steering the entity that manages Stanbic’s banking, investment and insurance arms in Kenya and South Sudan markets.

Oigara joined Stanbic Bank Kenya in late 2022. Previously, he served for nine years as the CEO KCB Group.

In August 2025, Dr. Oigara was charged with overseeing Standard Bank Group operations across East Africa, covering Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, South Sudan and Ethiopia markets.
