FALSE: Charlene Ruto isn’t chairperson of National Mining Corporation

The Ministry of Mining has dismissed the said Gazette notice, terming it false.

This post on X claiming that President William Ruto has appointed his daughter, Charlene Ruto, to be the Chairperson of the National Mining Corporation via a Gazette notice dated 3 October, 2024 is FALSE.

Similar assertions were also published here and here.

Charlene Ruto is the first daughter to William Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya.

The Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs has refuted the claim, terming the post as fake and published a side by side comparison of the fabricated vs original Gazette notice on its official page on X.

Charlene Ruto also took to her X account and refuted the claims stating, “Guys…c’mon…seriously?? Tuwache fake news! And looks like whoever is pushing this doesn’t know @WilliamsRuto. He believes in giving equal, fair and transparent leadership opportunities to as many Kenyans as possible, so trust me, this he would not do. Na mining tena? Not even youth? Or agriculture? Just so that you know it is really fake!”

Further, the original publication on the Kenya Gazette dated October, 2024, bearing notice number 12631 of Vol CXXVI-No. 151 on page 4011 does not announce Charlene Ruto being appointed for the said post. Instead, it shows Joseph Kipchumba Lagat was appointed as the Chairperson of the National Mining Corporation.
