Absa's deposit and win drive turns saving as exciting as the Premier League

Absa Bank Kenya is rolling out a three-month Deposit and Win campaign, named Shinda Milli na Absa Assist, marking a strategic move to incentivize savings among Kenyans during the ongoing Premier League season.

As the Official Banking Partner of the Premier League in Africa, Absa aims to blend the excitement of football with financial prudence. The campaign introduces an opportunity for participants, offering three lucky Kenyans a chance to secure a monthly grand prize of Kes1 million. Furthermore, over 100 winners will have the opportunity to claim guaranteed daily, weekly, and biweekly wins, with amounts reaching up to Kes250,000.

This initiative reflects Absa's commitment to engaging with its customer base and fostering a savings culture within the country. By aligning the campaign with the Premier League season, Absa not only capitalizes on the passion for football but also strategically positions itself as a financial institution that understands and caters to the diverse interests of its clientele.

The timing of the promotion is noteworthy, complemented by Absa's recent decision to raise the interest rate on deposits in the Absa Digital Savings account. The adjustment, which took effect on December 12, 2023, sees the interest rate increase from 9 percent to 10 percent per year, and will remain valid until the end of March 2024.

Absa Bank’s Head of Liabilities, Simon Gachahi, said: “We share the passion and excitement of the Premier League through activations, events, and exclusive experiences with legends and players, not just locally but across the continent.”

The Bank has a long-standing commitment to nurturing sports in the country, recognising the vital role it plays in society. Over the last decade, Absa Bank has invested over KES 1.2 billion in Kenya’s sports sector, spanning athletics, football (through the Premier League sponsorship), and golf.

“Through this campaign, we are empowering Kenyans in retail or business with the financial assist, just like in football, to achieve their goals and aspirations. Our long-term aim is to strengthen our relationships with our customers where they can benefit from their deposits and hard-earned savings,” he added.

Overall, there will be daily draws where 90 lucky winners will walk away with Kes10,000 each. The initiative's weekly draws will see 12 winners get a prize of KES 50,000 even as bi-weekly draws offer six participants a chance to win Kes250,000. The monthly grand prize is Kes1,000,000.

Deposits can be made conveniently at any time through various channels, including M-PESA Paybill 303030, cash-accepting ATMs, Absa branches, and Postbank outlets, the lender's agency banking partners.
